For proper and safe operation of the inboard engine, the use of an aerator is very important with a water-cooled 'wet' exhaust system.

Aerator or anti-siphon valve is used with inboard engines that are placed just above or below the waterline. It also prevents (cooling) water from flowing into the engine (cylinders).
